*****  Ski*Hi Preschool Program  *****

 

    The Ski*Hi Program is a home-based preschool/parent education program for deaf and hard of hearing children. 

    The goal of Ski*Hi is to use a child's natural environment to improve and increase the child's language and communications skills.  The program also focuses on developing and improving auditory and speech skills.

    A Parent Advisor will make a weekly hour long visit to the home.  During this time, the Advisor will help parents develop an understanding of their child's hearing loss and acquire skills to assist their child in reaching his/her full potential.

    The eligibility criteria for Ski*Hi is:

·        Children ages birth to five who have a documented hearing loss are eligible for Ski*Hi home visits.

·        The hearing loss may range from profound to fluctuating chronic otitis media.

·        The child must be a resident of West Virginia.

·        The Ski*Hi program is provided at no cost to parents.
